SYSTEM & RULES

BACHATA JACK & JILL

   Rules

  1. Every Follower as well as Leader,  will receive their own number, which must be visibly attached to their back or leg before the Competition.

  2. A live random selection will match the pairs (leaders to followers) and its rematching system. It will be kept by changing pairs until the end of the competition.

  3. In all phases, all couples will dance simultaneously, surrounded by the judges, who are going evaluate each dancer individually during the rounds. It is possible that the dancers will be divided into two groups during the Preliminary phase.

  4. There will be a DJ sorting and randomly playing songs from different Bachata Styles each round.

  5. The judges, producers and DJ will be in charge of the music selection in order to ensure a good level of the competition.

  6. The Preliminary phase will be competed by a maximum of 16 Leaders and 16 Followers. Every single Dancer is meant to dance 3 rounds/different songs of 3 different Bachata styles in this phase.

  7. If the number of Followers is bigger than number of Leaders or opposite, it will be equalized on the next phase.

  8. The Semi Final phase will be split into 4 rounds. It will be competed by half the number of Leaders and Followers of the Preliminary phase.

  9. The Final will be taking place during the Saturday Showtime and will be competed by 4 Leaders and 4 Followers, or half the number of Semi Finalists. In this phase every single Leader will dance with every single Follower, therefore defining the best Leader and best Follower of the competition.

  10. The results will be announced during the Zurich Bachatown Weekend.​​

Judging requirements

• TECHNIQUE:  Apply Posture and Accents, in accord to the current music. Plasticity; Clean Appliance; Balance; Difficulty level

• MUSICALITY:  Being able to keep the Counts/Rhythm; Show the ability of flowing between more or less tempos, in accord to the current music style.

• TEC CREATIVITY: Show the ability to choose, lead/follow and apply moves, figures and styling according to current Style and Musicality

• CONNECTION: Synchronism; Tempo of Appliance; Followers; Tuning

• PENALTIES: No talking during the sets; Keep it safely responsible when applying a figure, Keep the same ethic posture to all dancers.

​A special invitation to be part of the Lineup for one of our next events (by giving a workshop or performing a show) might be added to the list of prices. The Bachatown producers will be especially watching with this intention during the Tournament.

BACHATA 1X1 BATTLE

   Rules

  1. The modality Bachata Battle 1x1 is divided into two categories, being Men Style and Lady Style, both including footworks as well as styling. There is no gender restriction.

  2. All Phases are divided into Battles. Battles are divided into rounds. Rounds are divided into Entrances.

  3. Before the First Preliminary battle, a random selection will divide the dancers into two groups. These two groups will stand on the stage, in front each other and begin a Group vs Group Battle when the music starts. The evaluation of dancers is kept individual.

  4. Every dancer from both groups will have 2 short Entrances during this phase. During an Entrance, a dancer must stand in front of the opposite group and dance showing the best of their skills. Once again, the evaluation is gonna be kept individual.

  5. The judges will freely select, from both groups, which dancers advance to the next phase.

  6. From the next phase on all matches will be held as one vs one battles for every round and phase.

  7. The judges, producers and DJ will be in charge of the music selection in order to ensure a good level of the battles.

  8. At the end of each Battle, all judges show their votes for the winner by making an arm gesture. This will be done simultaneously, right after a country of three. The Dancer who receives more votes proceeds to the next phase.

  9. The Final will be taking place during the Saturday Showtime and will be competed by the 8 best selected dancers from each category. 4 final battles will define the final rank and following positions.

  10. The results will be announced during the Zurich Bachatown Weekend.

 

  Judging requirements

• TECHNIC: Bachata body accents; Clean appliance; Posture; Plasticity; Balance; Difficulty level

• MUSICALITY: Keep a standard tempo under control (it's allowed to flow into any recognized musical count). 

  Choose and use moves and techniques to underline special instrumental sets.

• CREATIVITY: Show you are not a "copy & paste" by showing confidence to apply your own posture, moves and way to flow into music.

• BASE: Keep it tasting like Bachata; Presenting a certain minimum knowledge of foundations, without creativity and personality.

• PENALTIES: Do not be aggressive with the other competitors; Respect the judges; Do not ignore Bachata foundations

The Full Pass includes the tournament fees for the competition (both categories). You can take part in every workshop and all three Social Parties. To participate in the Tournament only have to register via the link.​

  • COMPETITOR PASS + TOURNAMENT REGISTER

The Competitor Pass includes the tournament fees for the competition (both categories). You can also participate in the Competition Preparation Workshop and enjoy the Saturday Social Party. To participate in the Tournament you have to register via the link.​

  • SATURDAY PASS + COMPETITOR EXTENSION PASS + TOURNAMENT REGISTER

The Saturday Pass alone does NOT give access to the competition, but all the Saturday Workshops and the Saturday Social Party. To participate in the Tournament you additionally need a COMPETITION EXTENSION PASS (1 per Category you want to take part in) and register via the link.

THE SATURDAY PASS ALONE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ENTRANCE FEE TO THE COMPETITION!

YOU DON'T NEED A PARTNER TO REGISTER FOR ANY OF THE TOURNAMENT CATEGORIES!

Every contestant registers themself as solo-participant.
